Unexpected formation of stannolanes and trigonal bipyramidal tin complexes by radical cyclization reaction.

Optically active stannolanes and trigonal bipyramidal pentacoordinated tin complexes were readily prepared by radical cyclization of N-propargylated chiral aza-Morita-Baylis-Hillman adducts induced by Bu(3)SnH. A translocated radical through the cyclization attacked the Bu(3)Sn group in an S(H)2 manner.

Structure and Magnetic Properties of Trigonal Bipyramidal Iron Nitrosyl Complexes

Non-heme Fe(II) proteins form stable nitrosyl adducts. However, there are few synthetic examples of structurally characterized non-heme iron nitrosyl complexes, especially those that are coordinatively unsaturated. Presented herein is a series of non-heme {Fe-NO}7 complexes with trigonal bipyramidal coordination geometry. These complexes were synthesized with tripodal ligands derived from tris(...

Ti(IV)-amino triphenolate complexes as effective catalysts for sulfoxidation.

C(3)-symmetric Ti(IV) amino triphenolate complexes efficiently catalyze, without previous activation and in excellent yields, the oxidation of sulfides at room temperature, using both CHP and the more environment friendly aqueous hydrogen peroxide as terminal oxidants, with catalyst loadings down to 0.01%. The Ti(IV) catalysts and the intermediate Ti(IV)-peroxo complexes have been characterized...

Giant Ising-type magnetic anisotropy in trigonal bipyramidal Ni(II) complexes: experiment and theory.

This paper reports the experimental and theoretical investigations of two trigonal bipyramidal Ni(II) complexes, [Ni(Me(6)tren)Cl](ClO(4)) (1) and [Ni(Me(6)tren)Br](Br) (2). High-field, high-frequency electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy performed on a single crystal of 1 shows a giant uniaxial magnetic anisotropy with an experimental D(expt) value (energy difference between the M(s) = ...
